Smart and Cook
Smart and Cook is one of the fastest growing brokers in the UK, dominant
in the North of England and Scotland. Headquartered in Harrogate, near
Leeds, Smart & Cook has 12 offices and employs 329 people.
Partnership
Paul Meehan, Managing Director, comments, “We have worked with Acturis
since September 2000 and have been heavily involved in the design of the
system. The Acturis Broker Platform has been built by insurance people
for insurance brokers and this is evident in the usability of the system.
Further enhancements to the system are added at least quarterly –
many of which have been suggested by our staff. This for us is the true
meaning of the word partnership.
Delivery
Paul Meehan continued, “When our previous supplier removed systems
support a month earlier than planned and we gave Acturis the seemingly
impossible task of going live a month earlier than planned (including
migration and training), Acturis delivered.”
Efficiency
Lorraine Phillips, who managed the Acturis project for Smart and Cook,
added, “The Acturis system allows us to process business more efficiently.
For example, the Acturis system allows us to integrate electronically
with insurers and process commercial business quotations straight onto
an insurer’s back-office system and bind cover without the need
for any re-keying. As a result error rates are vastly reduced, turnaround
times are dramatically lower, documentation is immediately available and
our overall service levels improve.”
Compliance
Paul Meehan concludes, “As a growing multi-office broker, compliance
is an important issue for us. The Acturis Broker Platform allows us to
manage our interaction with clients and insurers in a compliant manner
through the automatic storage of correspondence and risk details, the
creation and management of a standard suite of letters and excellent workflow
management. Acturis has vastly increased the internal transparency of
what it is we do on a day-to-day basis.
Smart and Cook went live on the Acturis Broker Platform one month earlier
than expected in July 2002.
