The Acturis platform offers a leading edge, fully integrated broking system on an open platform, underpinned by a market leading support infrastructure.

Open Platform Design and Centralised Deployment Model

The platform has been designed to offer leading edge technology architecture and unmatched connectivity between brokers, third parties and insurers. this allows the broker to compete in a fast changing marketplace and exploit the tremendous opportunities to improve efficiency through
connectivity. The platform uses an Application Service Provider (ASP) deployment model whereby:

     -

The application is hosted centrally, avoiding the need for expensive services and backup at the broker site.

     -   Continual updates occur so the broker always has access to the latest version or release.
     -   Leading edge products and hardware are integrated and hosted centrally, providing the broker with far richer functionality than they could afford to host locally.
     -  Security and failover mechanisms are provided to the highest standards - for example, multiple layers of firewall at the hosting site.
     -   The architecture uses open standards to enable rapid integration and connectivity with insurers and other third parties.
     -   Information can be shared across locations, even if there is no LAN/WAN in place. Working from home becomes a reality.

The deployment model for a broker is illustrated below:

The application is powered using Internet Explorer. Data is routed from the broker office to Acturis via a dedicated link, typically a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection over BT's private IP backbone. One main connection plus a backup connection are recommended. Roaming and infrequent users as well as clients, introducers/agents and insurers are able to use the internet to connect to the system. There is little or no hardware presence required at the broker site, as all processing takes place at the hosting site.

The system has been designed for scalability, efficiency and maximum availability, robustness and security for users. Key elements of the server side architecture are identified below:
