Acturis and TIA announce unique alliance

Today Acturis, the leading UK broker software provider and TIA, the leading European insurance systems provider announced an alliance aimed at leveraging combined skills to provide a unique set of products and services to the general insurance market.

The two companies will begin a programme of cooperation aimed at extending products and geographic reach using combined resources.

'Boundaries between the traditionally separate segments within the market are blurring' said Theo Duchen, co-CEO of Acturis. It means that insurers may be required to do more broking and brokers may tempted to act more like an underwriter. Moreover, networks are forming which often blend broker and insurer functions. In addition, clients are interested in different deployment approaches such as a hosted service which Acturis currently provides to brokers via its ASP, and a self standing deployment which TIA provides to large insurers/brokers across Europe.' The two companies will link up in several areas:

  • To explore different deployment approaches for various products and services, where some clients prefer ASP and others self standing
  • To integrate offers to enable market participants to offer a wider array of services
  • To extend combined geographic reach
'The two companies are remarkably complimentary' said Ian Bowen, Chief Executive of TIA Systems, 'and have focused on very different areas of the market and functionality. As the market converges in geographic and participant terms, there is a great opportunity to work together for mutual benefit. We are very excited about this opportunity which promises significant benefits for clients.'
