The Company

Acturis is a software company that operates an advanced SaaS platform for the Insurance Broker and Insurer market in the UK. The system is hosted at a central hosting site, with brokers and insurance companies connecting to this site using various client applications.


Acturis operates Oracle 10g & 11g on a clustered Windows 2003/2008 Enterprise Server platform with a backbone of Cisco and Netscreen Networking equipment, HP Proliant Servers and EMC VMAX, Clariion, Celerra & Centera Storage devices.


There are various technical aspects to the company's work including:

  • Designing the overall systems architecture
  • Designing and building bespoke software components
  • Integrating third party components in to the system
  • Setting up and operating the hosting site for the system
  • Development of the system and supporting applications and systems
  • Support for the system and Acturis customers
  • Development, support and troubleshooting of the internal Acturis systems and networks

The Position

Acturis requires an Infrastructure Support Analyst to work within the Operations Team. The candidate will be expected to perform the following:

  • Be first point of contact for all Operational & Technical issues (not Helpdesk, as this is dealt by dedicated Helpdesk team)
  • Provide in-house Support for the bespoke Acturis Application
  • Diagnose and resolve Technical issues relating to Microsoft, Network and Oracle technologies
  • Work in a shift pattern to cover all Operational hours

Candidate Profile

Ideally, candidates will have the following experience:

Essential:

  • Degree qualified (with a 2:1 or better) – preferably Computer Science or similar. Must have graduated in either 2010 or 2011
  • If graduated in 2010, experience of working in a Second Line Support role for at least 1 year in a environment supporting at least 1,000 end users
  • Basic knowledge of at least one of the following technologies: MS Server 2003/8, Oracle 9i/10g/11g Database, Cisco Network devices
  • Excellent Communications Skills
  • First Rate Problem Solving Ability

Advantageous:

  • Detailed knowledge of Windows Technologies, including: MS Server 2003/2008, COM+
  • Detailed knowledge of Oracle Technologies, including: Oracle Server, SQL, PL/SQL
  • Detailed knowledge of Networking Technologies, including Cisco, WANs
