Software provider Acturis has released an online quote-and-buy feature with the aim of helping clients administer sales more efficiently.
Retailers and wholesalers conducting both commercial and personal lines business will be able to use the quote-and-buy to facilitate direct website sales and to automatically transfer all transaction data into the Acturis back-office system.
Simon Ronaldson, sales and marketing director for Acturis, explained: "All information clients input when purchasing a policy will feed immediately into the Acturis system,
eliminating the need for brokers to key data by hand and instantly notifying insurers that the client is on cover".
Information fed into the system will also be on hand for brokers' accounting purposes, business reconciliation with insurers, month-end processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
Mr Ronaldson said quote-and-buy would be best suited for brokers' small risk business, such as small commercial and personal lines, because it would speed up administrative processes, allowing more time for advising on more complex cover.
For wholesalers, the automation of business placement with brokers will free up underwriters' time to focus on more complicated policies.
Mr Ronaldson added that the tool would be most effective for companies that attracted high-volume web traffic: "This will work well for those that already have a strong web presence and attract business to their websites via search engine adverts".
He added that smaller brokers which had established affinity relationships with other organisations and placed click-through ads on other websites would also benefit. "It offers them a means of competing with aggregator sites," he said.
