Willis rolls out Acturis software offering to broker community
January 2010
Willis Networks has expanded the software options open to its broker members.
Following a successful pilot in Willis Commercial branches around the UK, network members will now be able to use the Acturis system and access special Willis scheme wordings via the platform. These products were previously only available to brokers using Insight.
Patrick Lawrence, finance operations director at Willis Networks, said: "Following a detailed evaluation, we are pleased to offer Acturis as a recommended system alongside our existing supplier. Members now have a choice between Acturis and Insight with both systems appealing to our community of brokers in different ways."
Simon Ronaldson, sales and marketing director at Acturis, said: "This is a really exciting moment for us. The Willis UK and Ireland project has progressed well, both to time and budget. We are delighted that our success in the core Willis project has opened up this further opportunity. Willis Networks has a quality member base and we very much look forward to working with the members that feel they would benefit from Acturis as a system."
In May last year, Willis announced that its commercial network members would have access to products via the Acturis system within six months.
Willis initially added more than 250 users to the Acturis system across its nine commercial offices. This year it said it hoped to roll the system out to its mid-market and major accounts and by the end of 2010, Willis said that more than 700 users would be on the Acturis system.
As reported in Insurance Age (November 2009, p8) Willis has revealed plans to expand its network offering, which comprises of Willis Commercial Network and Willis N≤, internationally with Europe and Latin America identified as initial targets.
Speaking at the time, Brendan McManus, chief executive of Willis UK and Ireland, said that the business intended to grow Willis Commercial Network to 100 members and Willis N≤ to 150 members by 2011.
Established in 1999, Willis Commercial Network members handle between £5m to £25m gross written premium (GWP) of predominantly commercial lines business. Willis N2, established in 2008, caters for community brokers handling between £1m to £4m GWP consisting of a mix of commercial and personal lines business.
