Mike Dodd has re-emerged at Acturis, following market speculation regarding his resignation at Software Solution Partners (SSP).
Mr Dodd takes on the role of business development director, and will focus on expanding Acturis' broker base and product services during its planned aggressive growth strategy.
"In the long term, I want to see electronic trading for commercial business become a reality for clients, together with a volume of commercial business for brokers," Mr Dodd said.
"Acturis has the basic technology in place, and an excellent reputation for delivery. That, together with the growing pace and decisive attitude within the company, are the main reasons that I joined".
Simon Ronaldson, sales and marketing director at Acturis, said: "It's no secret why we wanted Mr Dodd - he has 29 years' experience and his relationship with insurers and brokers is strong.
His presence will help realise our desire for growth, while his experience will benefit the company's management and broker and insurer relationships".
Mr Dodd explained that he would also like to improve sales and marketing within Acturis, while continuing its reputation for delivery as the company grows.
"From a commercial perspective, the largest volume of business Acturis handles is through e-trading. We are not yet the biggest in the commercial arena, but already have a similar number of users as Sirius - and we are only going to continue growing".
Acturis has already expanded its business development division, developing a dedicated team to drive its web services to the broker market.
After doubling its pre-tax profit and increasing its user base by 60% through organic growth last month, Acturis hinted at a series of client implementations in the future - including a large, independent broker.
"I'm glad to be back in London," Mr Dodd said. "Acturis is still seen as the new entrant to the market, but it has a solid customer base and a relationship with many of the consolidators in the market."
He added: "Acturis was the bane of my life while at Sirius - when we were competing, it was the only other game in town. Acturis has a proven product and the ability to deliver, and I'm looking forward to working in a company at the early stages of its growth".
